Child dedication is an opportunity for parents to publicly commit to raising their child in God’s truth and love while inviting the church family to encourage, pray for, and support them along the way.
It is a meaningful moment for your family and a reminder that you do not have to navigate the journey of parenting and faith alone.
What It Means
A Commitment by Parents & the Church
During a child dedication, parents publicly commit to creating a Christ-centered home and intentionally helping their child grow in faith as they get older.
The church also makes a commitment—to pray for your family, encourage you, and walk alongside you as you raise your child. It is less about a single ceremony and more about recognizing the shared role of parents and the church community.

Once you request a dedication, you can choose an available Sunday and begin planning who you would like to have there with you.

You are welcome to invite family and friends to attend the service and celebrate this meaningful moment with you.

Child dedications take place as part of a Sunday gathering, giving your family the opportunity to celebrate the moment alongside the church community.
What Happens?
Near the end of the service, you and your child will be invited forward. Family or friends you would like to stand with you may join you as well.
The dedication includes a brief introduction and commitments from parents, family, friends, and the church to support your family as you raise your child in faith.
The child dedication portion lasts approximately 30–40 minutes.

What is the difference between child dedication and baptism?
Child dedication is a commitment made by parents to raise their child in a Christ-centered home. Baptism is a personal decision by someone who has chosen to follow Jesus and wants to publicly declare that faith.
What age is child dedication for?
The Bridge invites families with children ages 0–4 to participate in child dedication.
Can family and friends participate?
Yes. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Sunday service, and you may invite people who are important to your family to stand with you during the dedication.
What happens during the dedication?
Your family will be invited forward near the end of the service. The dedication includes a brief introduction and commitments from parents and the church to support your child’s spiritual growth.
Does child dedication mean my child is baptized?
No. Child dedication and baptism are separate. Dedication expresses the commitment of parents and the church, while baptism is a future personal decision your child can make when they are able to understand and choose faith in Jesus for themselves.
