Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to submit to a background check?

The Bridge Church cares about the safety of all those attending services and assisting in ministries, most of all our children. Volunteers are asked to submit to a background check in order to verify the authenticity of their identity and to ensure that those who are volunteering are able to serve effectively in the ministries where they wish to help.

How long does the background check take?

Once you submit your volunteer application, our church office will be notified immediately and will begin the process. Our office administrator will submit your information to Church Community Builder (CCB) which will then reach out to you via email using the email information you provided in the volunteer application. The email they send you will include a link and instructions on how to begin the process. It may take up to 7-14 business days so it’s important that you submit your volunteer application well before the start date of the event.

I’m a teacher or teacher helper in Kidz Bridge and I’ve already submitted a background check to the Bridge Church. Do I have to do it again?

No. All teachers and teacher helpers who have previously submitted to a background check will not need to do this again to help with VBS.

Can I choose where I want to help?

Absolutely! We want to make sure that you are helping in a way that highlights your skills, talents and schedule. However, we ask that all station leaders be available for each day of VBS for the duration of the event. All volunteers should be prepared to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the day(s) and stations where they have committed to help.
