Call to Ministry
In 1974, at 21 years of age, while serving in the U.S. Navy, Mark heard the gospel and began his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was immediately baptized and discipled alongside his wife Debra as a Youth Minister in a conservative Baptist Church.
Within a few short months of completing his duty with the Navy, he enrolled in the California Missionary Baptist Seminary. In 1978 he was conferred a Th.B. focusing in Theology with a minor in Bible Languages. In 1989 he also earned a Th.M. and finally, a Th.D. in 1990. While completing his degrees he also served on the faculty at the Seminary from 1986 to 1993.
During his many years of ministry, Pastor Mark has served as Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor in three Southern California churches. In 1997, God led him to Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California where he and his wife Debra became members and learned of the Purpose-Driven Church philosophy.
In March 2004 Pastor Jackson accepted God’s call to plant a new purpose driven non- denominational church in the city of Corona. And, after much prayer and research, The Bridge Church In Corona was incorporated on July 1, 2004 with just 4 people.
On Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 7:00 pm we held our first small group meeting at Pastor Jackson’s house and had 9 people in attendance. Then on Sunday morning, August 15, 2004 we held our first worship service on the patio of the Jackson’s house and had fourteen people attend.
Later, on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 The Bridge Church celebrated a grand opening and continues to grow in our South Corona location!
